Jamsday

Your guitar, the sound of the song, and a band to pass it to.

Jamsday is a guitar app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Plug in, pick the sound of a song you love, play along with drums or a backing track — and pass your loop on so somebody else plays the next layer.

How it works

Just play

Every sound is named after a song. Open one and you play through an amp that sounds like the record, with drums in the song's feel and tempo. Turn the tempo down to learn it, loop a part, record yourself.

Play along

Backing tracks with the chords on screen. Play the rhythm part or play over it, and keep what you recorded.

Pass the jam

Record a loop and pass it on with a short ask — “a solo over the top”, “a bass line”. Other players answer with a take of their own. You pick the answer you like and it is baked into the song as the next layer. When the song is done, you finish it and everyone who played on it can hear it.

Who it is for

Guitar players who learned on records and want that sound under their fingers, and anyone who would rather jam with other people than practise alone — without being in the same room or awake at the same time.

What you need

An electric guitar, and an iPhone or iPad with an audio interface or guitar adapter (USB-C or Lightning) — or a Mac with an audio interface. Jamsday never records the device's own microphone. No account is needed to play; signing in with Apple is only for passing and answering jams.

On the Mac, Jamsday also gives you Jamsday Amp, an Audio Unit plugin for Logic Pro and GarageBand: put it on a track and play through the same sounds.

Jamsday is free. No ads, no in-app purchases.

Real amp sounds from TONE3000

TONE3000

Jamsday has partnered with TONE3000 to give you access to a massive library of Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) captures and IRs of real analog gear, created by a global community of musicians. With a free TONE3000 account, each song's sound plays through a capture of the real amp behind it. How the integration works.

Questions

What is Jamsday?
Jamsday is a guitar app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Plug your guitar in, pick the sound of a song you love, and play along with drums or a backing track. Then record a loop and pass it on, so other players can add the next layer. On the Mac it also comes with Jamsday Amp, an Audio Unit plugin that brings its sounds to Logic Pro and GarageBand.
Who is it for?
Guitar players at any level who want to play more and practise less alone: people who learned on records and want that sound, and people who want to jam with others without being in the same room.
What do I need?
An electric guitar and one of these: an iPhone or iPad with an audio interface or guitar adapter (USB-C or Lightning), or a Mac with an audio interface. Jamsday never uses the device's own microphone for your guitar. For Jamsday Amp you need Logic Pro or GarageBand on the Mac.
Do I need a TONE3000 account?
No. Every sound plays at once with Jamsday's own built-in amp. A free TONE3000 account unlocks the real amp captures behind each song's sound.
What is Pass the jam?
You record a loop and pass it on with a short ask, like “a solo over the top”. Other players answer it with a take of their own. You pick the answer you like, it is baked into the song, and the song goes on to the next layer until you finish it.
Who can hear my jam?
You choose when you pass it. Anyone: it is listed in Listen and Wanted for everyone. Unlisted: it does not appear in Listen or Wanted. Anyone with the link can listen.
Do I need an account?
Not to play. Just play and Play along work without one. To pass a jam or answer one you sign in with Apple; Jamsday asks only for the name you want on your layers, never your email.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, in the app: Profile, Delete account. Your jams, answers and comments are removed. Layers already baked into other people's songs stay in those songs, without your name.
What does it cost?
Jamsday is free. No ads, no in-app purchases.
